Why do we need to cut the leaves of Adenium Arabicum

  1. Protection from the diseases. We should keep removing old leaves
  2. Help to maintain the better form especially
we can control the growth of branches.
  3. 3.It helps to get proper sunlight to the branches which are growing from the lower side.
  1. We can see the plant very clearly from every angle so that we can maintain the desired form.
  2. When moving the plant to a new pot at this time leaf pruning will prevent the plant from dehydration.

Precautions while cutting leaves

  1. If possible we must clean/sanitize our tools before pruning leaves.
  2. The top branch might get “Sun Burn” if we made a mistake cutting the young branch instead of leaves during heavy sunlight.

Some generally asked questions

How often we should cut leaves?

  • I usually keep the top bunch of 3-4 leaves and prune all lower leaves I don’t wait for any particular time just following the criteria I have set. As soon as the number of leaves increases I just prune extra leaves. Before the monsoon, I try to prune all the leaves of some of my favorite plants.
Because in monsoon the nitrogen triggers the growth and to control the elongation of the branches I didn’t get an any better idea.

Which leaves should we cut?

  • It depends on us. We can let the young leaves grow and cut the mature leaves. It depends on the weather if it is very hot we must not cut the young leaves otherwise it may lead to burning off the top part of the branch. If the weather is pleasant we can remove the top leaves too.

Should we move them to the shade after cutting leaves?

  • No, please leave them in the sunlight because sunlight can help cuts to heal faster but if raining we can move them to the shade and take them out when sunlight comes up again.

Can we do watering as usual?

  • Yes. No problem.
