I am not sure when my love for gardening started, but I remember, as a child, we had orchards of apple, walnut, etc in the Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. I enjoyed going to my farmhouse and used to enjoy nature that was full of greenery all around with varieties of fruits and flowers and different types of vegetables. We also had cherry plantations and I loved hanging cherries on my ears as earrings and it used to give me immense pleasure. Childhood memories.

After marriage I started keeping plants in my house and day by day it increased my passion towards plants. I used to work as a teacher and after a hectic day at school and finishing the chores at home, I used to love sitting next to my plants in the evening and this gave me immense relaxation. I would love to keep plants in every corner of my house. My husband jokingly teased everyone who came to our house saying ” DON’T OPEN YOUR MOUTH, YOU NEVER KNOW MY WIFE MAY PLANT SOME PLANT IN YOUR MOUTH”. Now my son says the same thing.

After retirement, I spend most of my time with my plants and enjoy their company. I talk to my plants, I sing for them, play music for them, and enjoy my life. So nowadays gardening keeps me busy and my plants are my best friends. Though I am not an expert gardener still I love gardening and dream and breathe only plants and because of this, I feel as if my life is filled with fresh air and natural beauty. My recent association with HFSOG has only enabled me to learn more so thanks to all the members for the same.
